Turrets: Disable? Shoot?
I found my first set of turrets near what I think is the bio-module (where you get Mutagen).

There are 2 turrets, the first I encounter. I can see the devices to disable them, but I get shot if I approach them. I noticed that when I tried to approach from the side one turret shot the other and I was still able to get the cell. Anyway, I tried several things, reloading from save... and I can't figure out a way to take them out without damage except by maybe shooting them (not tried yet).

Is there a trick that I missed maybe? Perhaps something that cuts the power in that wreck? Or (I haven't tried yet) by building an EMP nade and maybe it disables them without doing damage?

Also, I have a hunch that I need to disable them without shooting them for an achievement but I can't find it. Please confirm/deny?

Just guessing... hints please :)

There's no achievement or even point to doing so and it's quite dangerous. You will take damage. You just have to circle strafe around the turrets until you can spin around to their control panels, then quickly disable them. You'll get shot a few times, but if you're quick, you can disable both without dying.

You'll have to test the EMP thing on your own. I've also never tried blowing them up, but I suspect that they're invincible because they're potential quest items.

Ty, I am quite certain they can be blown up, as I saw one shoot the other. I guess I will have to try the different ways: emp and pistol

Confirmed: Trivially easy to shoot the turrets with the pistol, and then take their power cells. Trivially easy to do without taking any damage.

Try Shooting Them Works for me! Oh after you have shoot them can still get the Cell, Need them for the Big Gun!

I ended up doing a mix, most I was able to disable, others I shot. Already put them in the big gun, and I have several left over.
