Castle Machinery time trial
So I was short on getting the Castle Machinery plat relic by a few seconds so I went to youtube to see if there's something I'm doing wrong and I saw a video by the world record guy where he basically skips a whole section by throwing himself at an obstacle and wasting an aku mask.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EJfw8WHt_g timestamp 1:05

I tried this like 20 times and the game always kills me as if I had fallen off the map. Is this patched or is there a trick to it?

Especially on Crash 2 and 3, they are full of frame perfect tricks. If you want to know how to do that trick watch the Crash 1 Any% speedrun on GamesDoneQuick 2018, runner explains it pretty well.

Are you trying with 30fps?

That jump is not really needed to plat, Save the 2 masks till 1:30 and damage boost through the steam assuming it gets in your way, at the last section of steam vents just be patient and jump through them one by one at 2:30. As long as you do it cleanly you won't need to damage boost anymore after that. If you do however manage to make that jump at 1:05 you can probably relax since it saves you like 10 seconds by the looks of it.

Thanks, I'll try that, but it doesn't answer the question whether the jump is still possible, since I can't do it.

I meant try playing at 30fps, this and the sypro remake seem to have some weird inconsistencies between 30 and 60 fps for some people.

I doubt it will do anything, but I thought it might be worth mentioning since that video you posted was on ps4 at 30fps.
