Issues with aiming up and down with a controller
I'm currently playing CS-GO with a 360 controller, and I'm experiencing issues with vertical aiming. Horizontal aiming/turning is fine, but when I aim up or down, it occasionally jumps in the other direction (Ex. tapping the stick upward may cause the player to look down completely), other that it's fine.

I don't really care about the "Mouse and Keyboard is the optimal way to play" crap, It shouldn't deny other people from using controllers. If they put controller support in a game, It should actually work well throughout the game, irregardless whether it's really used that much or not. It worked fine in the Left 4 Deads, what makes it so difficult for it to work properly in CS-GO and TF2 among others. Sure Xpadder or Joy2Key may be a solution, but it's hypocritical when the game is CONTROLLER ENABLED!

I think the news people are unaware of is that CS: GO is controller supported. Works like a dream... until you try to aim vertically. Unbelievable oversight. I hope to see a fix pronto.

i think i will try my controller just to see how csgo performs with it :D
I actually encountered a similar issue. It's amazing that Valve would slip up something as simple as controller integration, especially for a such a commonly-used gamepad like the 360. One of the many. many reasons I won't be buying the game and coming back after the free weekend.

yeah same issue, for some reason vertical aim VERY slow, and WONKY. I have both Ver an Hor sense set to 2 in settings, but they doesnt looke equal in game. Got to mess with config and see if this could be fixed. If this unfixable, not going to by this game. Valve always had problems with gamepad support, they still cant even understand that THEY COULD ACTUALLY BIND 2 and more actions on same button by used quck tap, normal tap, double tap and hold event. Their single bind per button model kills the fan of using native gamepad support. But at lest in CS GO all menues contralble (as far as i see atm its better dont than Portal 2 menues that still required mouse)

Same with L4D2, the in-game controls are great, but the menus can't be controlled by them, Not to mention TF2 has a major issue where you can't bind movement and aiming to the appropriate stick directions (Movement and turning on one stick shouldn't be defaults!)

Interesting. This is the first Valve title I've tried to play with the 360 controller. Sounds like they should pool their efforts. Especially, if they're serious about big picture mode.

Type in the dev console joy_lowend_.35 or something like that... it should come up. You will be aable to use the controller to aim. I prefer to use keyboard and mouse, but sometimes it is nice to play with a controller

I'll consider that for when I buy it for a sale price, I might not get it for a while since some of my steam money is certainly reserved for The Pinball Arcade once it gets released.

As taboo as it is to reply to a 7 year old thread, I ran into this issue today and couldn’t find a solution until I was well into over 2 hours of searching.

My issue also had slow vertical aiming/looking up/down but perfect horizontal aiming/turning.

So although the op and previous replies are most definitely onto bigger and better things, for all of you still encountering this, here is the solution that worked for me:

ISSUE:

The right analog stick vertical aiming is slow and jumps around.

SOLUTION:

1) Enable Console in Settings menu under Game

2) When back in game Press the ‘ key to pull up Console

3) Type “exec controller” into the field without the quotations and press enter

I, for one, am extremely greatful that decided to revive a 7 year old thread (or however old it is now)
