What is the BEST headset for CSGO?
Ok.... so I've been looking through A LOT of forums and reviews in search for what headset i should get. I've come to one conclusion, and that is that everyone has different opinions. I've heard both good and bad about stereo, 2.1, 5.1, 7.1 and this and that.

Most people say 5.1 and 7.1 isn't actually real and that it is not better and yet I see a lot of people praising it. I've also heard that CSGO don't even support 7.1 which would instantly cross all 7.1 headsets from the list.

I'm confused and unsure what to get to get the best possible sound for hearing and locating footsteps (this is the ONLY thing I care about). I need to be able to locate enemies as good as possible.

Some of the headsets I've considered are the good'ol Steelseries Siberia v2, Roccat Kave 5.1, and Razer Tiamat 7.1.

I'm open for all suggestions and I'm not supporting any type of headsets more than others.
I simple want to know what are the best for ^ (within a reasonable pricerange) and some facts backing it up would be appreciated.

dunno what's all about this headset hype. my iphone 4 earpods are decent enough to track down enemies by footsteps. not the most comfortable , but as i said, decent for what they were made.

The best headset, not headphones, are the Beyerdynamic MMX 300. It has the same quality as the DT 880 PRO, and a microphone on it which makes it a headset.
Trust me there is nothing better, but you also need a decent dedicated sound card with it.

Because everyone has different experiences. Probably the majority of headsets are fine enough.

Most people have no experiences, or very little. I would trust the audiphiles tbh. It is no secret that headphones with a plugged in mic are miles ahead of any gaming headsets.

Don't buy gaming headsets, they're terrible and overpriced. Rather try to go for studio open ear headsets and just apply Mod mic to it.

it really depends on the quality. the key to the game is to listen closely to the enemies footsteps so you can identify where they are. the logitech G430 has really good quality but its can be expensive.
