Not to mention what your are describing isn't likely.
Here is a list of scams you might encounter though. In this case it could be these things:
- He's trying to earn your trust to scam you later
- He didn't know the item value
- He made you click some link and is going to hi-jack your account you (see above thread).
Just be careful and read the account security recommendations and trade recommendations on the Steam Support pages.
A last ditch effort (this is only if you have no other way, or starting fresh) Is to load linux/windows/macos/whatever and delete your hard drive partitions erasing EVERYTHING. Re-install your os and start over again. Most people will not like this answer, but I've had to do it a couple times, either for performance reasons, changing my os, or a very nasty undetectable virus.
