pros play at 1280x980 which is 4:3. They already have a lower FOV than a casual player at 1920x1080. Point is, you cannot hold cat like they way you are doing in this print, because if someone comes from a different angle that the one you are looking, you have to make adjustments in your aim, and that is the difference between a good and a bad player. CS is a very mechanical game, which means having more FOV=more mouse movement, which is bad. That may be the reason why this is irrelevant for the devs or the players. Sorry my english.

You are using a super ultrawide monitor which gives you a great view in all supported games. Nothing unfair about it. I used to play on an ultrawide monitor too. Anyway, your aiming would get much harder with the same mouse settings.

WDYM? Aspect ratio is the FOV slider. All the pros use 4:3 because they get a more zoomed in vision.

Why would anyone play like that because you can easily get shot from a 50° angle and you won't be able to see him

It's simple, you can't shoot what you can't aim at. The enemy is too small at too high aspect ratio.

I had the same problem in R6, literally couldn't see spawn-peeking enemies.
they have every setting under the sun except for fov slider wtf

What do you want with that? Like any native aspect ratio is literally an massive disadvantage already in CS2. Low FOV is absolute king in this game and hence 4:3 aspect ratio.
Valve has completly messed up with CS2 in many aspects, peekeradvantage is big af thanks to subtick, meanwhile the movement runs like on a dial up connection, so is the kill confirmation. Having smaller models and higher FOV values will just result in you geting 1 tapped before you even notice a thing.

Game in my opinion is next to unplayable at higher ranks with native resolution, because the technical base of CS2 is a mess.
People can zoom around corners and get your head tapped off faster than your screen renders the first frame of your enemy beeing visible. Thats literally the whole reason behind 4:3.
Next to that this game has absolutely awful player and map contrasts, sometimes the blood on a wall looks like a player or a player can hide in it. Issue is way worse on native res than on 4:3

Personally i dont even get why they updated into CS2, its 2025 and this game is still based around 4:3 and horrible pixelated resolutions, yet making contrasts way worse and adding next to no value to the game.
Like the updated Graphics are a complete waste of money. New smokes fine, Subtick is crap and worse than original 128 tick because everything is out of sync, even bullet tracers are annoying garbage by now that dont reflect the real data the server is working with. Next to that the entire movement, the kill conf. and everything around subtick shooting is slow as hell.
Sometimes im shooting the second player already while im waiting for the first kill to be confirmed with a 11ms ping, like the games network is slow as hell.

You 1 tap some1, subtick recognizes the exact millisecond but the sending data to the server and recieving it takes more than 400 milliseconds. Same goes for peeking corners.

The vertical fov does not change only the horizontal so you are literally seeing the same vertical view. Nothing gets zoomed in, the horizontal view just gets cut off.......

4:3 should be banned. >1% manufacturer makes 4:3 monitors for decades now.

there have been maybe a handful of funny 4:3 moments but overall it’s considered slightly better to play on 4:3, and it’s what most pros are just used to at this point. you don’t need that much peripheral vision when you know roughly where the enemies CAN be. It’s just useless information at a certain point
