If you've got CS open, you need to be in the main menu for it to work.
Oh and also, do skins actually degrade over time? Like the quality? If I get a factory new skin now, will it look the same after a few months? It may seem like a noobish question but I never really used a lot of skins.
It's quality will stay the same no matter how many time you use it or how long you have had it :)
You can't do that in TF2. Hell you can't even inspect something without owning it. (Hell you can't even inspect at all in TF2, but if you could you would have to own the item.) GO gave a lot more freedom than TF2 when it came to items, like unlimited backpack space and that every new weapon is automatically added to your inventory, just without a skin for it. Shows how much you know...
For tf2 you go in console and type "item test" and you can test and item with bots or whatever.
