TUTORIAL: How to work you Xbox 360 Controller on CS:GO

STEP 1: plug controller into 1 of your usb ports on your computer

STEP 2: Let computer download all the stuff it needs for the controller to work(it does this automatically)

STEP 3: Launch CS:GO

STEP 4: Open Console

STEP 5: Type exec controller.360.cfg and hit ENTER

STEP 6: In Console type Joystick 1

STEP 7: Go To controller and changed settings to what you want

STEP 8: Join a game and have fun!!!

This should work but there is a better workaround that does not require using console commands.
1. find the controller.cfg file in the CSGO folder located in

steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg

and make a backup copy of it in case you need to restore defaults later.

2. open the controller.360.cfg file located in the same place. Replace the text of controller.cfg with the text in controller.360.cfg

NOTE: you can open and edit controller.cfg to change the default controls of your controller. look at config_default.cfg to see how the controls are assigned.

ie adding the line
bind "UP" "+voicerecord"
will make the up button on the d-pad be the push-to-talk button on your controller.

3. at the beginning of each match open options->controller and reset it to default values to activate the controller.cfg file. (you may have to re-enable your controller at the top)

4. enjoy using your 360 controller in the match.
