New AWP Update
Greetings,

As we all know, there is a new update on the AWP which adds a motion blur to the crosshair while scoping. Before the update, the motion blur only exists when scoping-in while running (correct me if Im wrong). Thats fine by me, BUT now the motion blur of the crosshair happens even when scoping in a stationary stance and walking while scoping.

This little blur effect may just seem like a visual update but in my opinion, it affects the gameplay and playstyle drastically when using the newly updated AWP. Here are a few pros and alot of cons of the new AWP update based on my perception.

As an AWPer
Pros:
1) None. (Fill it in if you have some ideas.)

Cons:
1) Harder to quickscope. (Due to the blur on the crosshair, it is harder to estimate the impact point of the bullet.)
2) More exposed due to motion blur fade time on the crosshair. (You'll need to maintain a stationary stance for a longer time [0.5sec?] to take your shot. Yes it matters.)
3) Reaction time disadvantage. (If an opponent is using a rifle, and your reaction time is faster than his/hers, you'll still need to wait for the blur to fade before taking a killshot, which means you'll be exposed for a longer period [Point 2].)
4) Its just annoying.

Against an AWPer
Pros:
1) More time to adjust for a killshot.

Cons:
1) None.

With that being said, Im strongly against this new AWP update. Yes, players may adapt to the new AWP but is it really neccessary to implement the motion blur to this extent? If the update is going to stay on, then the price of the AWP (4750$) should be reduced as it is not as effective as it was before.

Or just revert the update.

Reminder to self, not merge this thread with the update thread. First decent thread I seen about it.
i think that valve should put the awp just like it was before the update, i dont like, and im sure there are more users who dont like this new update. PLS VALVE REMOVE THIS UPDATE

I am an awper as well... awp is my fav weapon in the entire game due to its power, mechanics and hard manevrability which makes it a hard weapon to use that making it very rewarding.

It was VERY bad already with the blur while moving but now with this update the awp is unplayable seriously...

This update has NERF written all over it.

They nerf the awp but the p90 is left the same as it was since the game was released ?

FIX YOUR ♥♥♥♥ VALVE AND GET BACK TO HOW YOU WERE YEARS AND YEARS AGO !

REVERT THIS CHANGE TO THE AWP AND NERF WEAPONS WHICH REALLY NEED TO GET NERFED LIKE P90 AND CZ-AUTO !!!

Can we stop with the capslock and not immediately turn this thread in what I don't want it to be? Thanks!
Do the AWP as in 1.6 and I would be happy.

Just leave the AWP as it was before the recent update. It was most acceptable then.

True... the awp has always been the same in every cs game so far... now in cs:go, valve decided to destroy it completly.

As and old time player, I'm sorry to say... this blur scope didn't affect me at all... I really don't think that it changes awp's response time, I think it was implemented just to show you when the shot will be accurate or not. Quickscope, walking, etc was never accurate.

BTW: You can get a killshot while scope is blurred

As I see you have played just 4 hours in CS 1.6, play more and compare. You would be surprised. Believe me, AWP in CS: GO is a piece of sh*t.

P.S. For all my life I've played in CS (1.5, 1.6 and CS: GO) more than 3k hours.

good thing that they made that gun little harder to use judging by the response here, i've spent so many hours in dm servers to get good at ak/m4a4 while awp barely took any practice. it was one of the reasons why me and my fellow colleague didn't like to use awp, ridiculously easy and effective.

I played CS1.6 and older versions, before Steam even started registering hours played ;) I probably got you beat on the hours but it doesn't mean anything.

I just vaguely remember this happening before (like in CSS, and then probably reverted).

NB I haven't been able to see the big change in-game yet. I prefer scout anyway and am sure I'll AWP just fine.

I'll have to disagree on your last statement. Quickscoping is accurate if you do it right. Walking while scoped-in is accurate too. Accuracy still remains the same after the update I believe, it is the motion blur of the crosshair that affects how we carry out our shots now. It is the "feeling" of the weapon that is affected.
