It would also make the user a target for harassment.
Moved to CS:GO forums as this is game specific.
Those are weird statements? Why would it attract the wrong people "that should not be doing overwatch ? Just make OW trustbased ... Problem solved .And why would it make the user target for harassment more than he already is ? Cheaters , scammers , trols , smurfs...
I agree with the OP. We should get an overwatch medal that is upgradeable. A medal like that would also have an effect on closet cheaters. Imagine a full lobby with 5 overwatch medals. They would think twice before turning on.
People would push to get that trust factor, just to get the medal/badge. They may even try to cheat the system to get said trust factor. Remember, people use 3rd party programs to get achivements for games as well, so there are many who would do it, just for the badge.
If someone has a sign they were/are a part of Overwatch on their profile or inventory, people who were banned for cheating (or their friends/alts) may harass them in-game, in the forums or on their profile, making rude comments or insults. They may even make false reports in an attempt to have some kind of "revenge" against the user.
Another issue i assume is going on is that the new legit players dont fell as much as welcoming as they shoudve, as they are certainly higher targets.
you're casting a vote, and you need many to actually ban someone
overwatch is NOT for fun, it's a responsibility to do it, and jurors submit their votes anonymously in real life and their pay is awful as a measure to discourage them of being called upon for the same purpose again, protecting them in the process and avoiding making a job out of it.
Well i have to say, that would had to be with Valve to make it a reliable earned medal..
if those 3rd party programs would exist, in some way i could think that they exist already for the rewarded XP, meaning that we could have a not as fair Overwatch system as we think we have?
Well i dont think i would be ashamed to get that medal, i report my teammates and friends if they are cheating, and i do tell them if i see it, no shame, i dont like to have cheaters in my team, because if they are really cheating it will be the team the whole team getting penalized, so if i was penalized for something i didn't agreed to, why they shouldnt get banned from something they did? The point is that if a player gets banned means they deserved it.
Harass them for helping the community? I assume that it would be banned players doing that, and if they are banned why would they have access to the forums?
This being said I would actually strongly advise for a more composed and overall more experienced group of players to be part of Overwatch.
