Evocation spells do not work well. You'll want armour piercing stuff and stuff that hits hard to punch through the armour. They have pretty poor attack so high defence helps as well.
So don't use elemental damage. Just smack them with big sticks. Anyways, if you have some more details like the battle report it would help. Drop onto the mod inspector to check the statistics of the statues and stuff. https://larzm42.github.io/dom5inspector/
Heh, my bad. I looked up statues and they only have poison resist. And 12 att/14 def with shield and 20 protection are not bad stats at all. They are size 3 with one weapon so that's only 2 attacks per square. If you can bring two handed weapons at size 2 (eg: barbarians) you should do quite well with some losses.
Did the golem have gems and did it cast spells?
It depends on what else is in the province. If there was only one golem. I would really want
to use flying troops set to 'Hold and Attack Rear'. The statues will advance and give a little separation from the golem. Then your flying troops will swoop in and kill the leader. Statues are magical and will disappear without a leader. If there are multiple leaders or other units involved, that might not work.
I think it was around year two because I had 12 Ifrit Warriors (the City of Brass showed up at turn 12, right?) and they butchered 10 of them. And yes, the Golem did cast spells. Mainly Mind Burns but I don't think they are successful since I've got Magic 3 scale so it should've added +3 Magic Res for the Ifrit Warriors, right?
I only casted Legion of Steels and Fireballs to the Golems and Living Statues. I don't think those worked. LOL.
I did that already. I had my Ifrit Warriors on Hold and Attack Rearmost. While the Jinn Warriors attacked the closest. And they got butchered.
Yeah, I will probably do that next. I was thinking lots of Ifrit Sultan SC with Smasher and heavy prot + def with Ironface and Bracers.
That will work but kind of expensive. As I mentioned you can do it with just ordinary two handed troops and cheap stuff. But... you will know your gem income versus gold in the game.
