Entaglement? What does it do? same As paralysis? Why is Vine Shield Good for SC?
I guess all my questions are in the title. But I can't find description of what entangle does.

Entangled units just don't move. Paralyzed units don't do anything. Furthermore entangled units can break free with a STR-check.

Both conditions prevents the unit from moving or making melee attacks.

Entangled reduces Defense by 75%. It ends when the unit succeeds at a strength check.

Paralyzation also prevents ranged attacks and normal spellcasting, and reduces Defense to 0. It has a fixed duration measured in rounds; from the Mind Blast ability it's usually 1-3 rounds, from the spell it's usually 20-40 rounds.

In both cases, innate casters can still cast spells.

Vineshield is good for a thug or sc because it greatly reduces the number of pixel mans who attack. Those vined do not get an attack. This both reduces the chance of a lucky hit and reduces the amount of harassment which reduces defence. Large single combatants are vulnerable to slow chip damage and harassment. An alternate is awe from the shield or other sources to reduce attacks. Sometimes it's better to take a shield that kills the attackers like charcoal (undead) or scutatus (vulnerable to lightning).

Thank you all for the quick and thorough answers. Yeah I noticed that even a super durable combatant sometimes gets hit.
I learned that with my Golden Bull Immobile Pretender, he got swarmed. And despite the high armor and the physical resistances he still got chipped to death. Took him long enough though.

N1 mages can cast it on units that require high def skill to survive and then normal troops can kill them. Van's for example, I have no clue why people think they are a good sacred when 1 n1 mage shuts them down.

Also I will say that while the Vine Shield is a good shield, it's sometimes a bit overrated IMO, probably stemming from the Dom3 days when shields were invulnerable. It's pretty frail and doesn't have great stats overall apart from the excellent entanglement effect, and I wouldn't seek it out to put it on most SC's since vine shields will get chopped to pieces in no time by counterthugs. Where it really shines is on defense- or parry-based medium thugs, where the primary purpose is to keep you from getting harassed down.
