earthquake spell

Just a little help needed here.
How can i effectively use the earthquake spell if i can't let my units float. The spell will destroy my army aswel

High defence / high prot / high hp units will either avoid it or survive.
Ethereal units are completley immune to EQ.

Sending a small group of chaff / bodyguards only with a mage, or just himself with order to cast it, then retreat sometimes can be very efficient.

You already have earth path, use that earth magic to cast protection buff on your army. Earthquake only deal 8+ armor piercing damage.

mass flight will also give all your troops flying which gives immunity against Earthquake (but not the eartquake cave effect!).
