How to copy paste orders ?
I'm tired to manually give orders to every single of my mages... I know there is a way to copy paste orders, but I never could get how (despite some attempts based on lacunar informations).

I'm not even sure I can find it in the manual so I thought I would just ask here.

By the way, I feel like this should included in the UI !
A right click => [copy orders / paste orders] would do the trick.

Just place your cursor over a list of orders on a commander/mage in the army setup screen and press Ctrl + a number key (1-9).
Place your cursor over an empty list of orders on a commander/mage (the same screen) and press Shift + the intended number.

Also, when you script spells 'x' will copy the one above.

Yeah, that’s really handy. I only found out recently despite playing Dominions 4 for like a year... Also "?" brings up a list of commands for almost any screen. That’s pretty much the ultimate tip regarding controls.

That's one of the odd things about Dominions... If there is ever a UI element that you feel like you want, chances are it already exists, it's just achieved in a very unintuitive way. I mean I personally never would have dreamed of the possibility of using RTS squad creation keyboard shortcuts to script mages until I heard about it.

Dominions has more keyboard shortcuts than a full-fledged flight sim. It's kinda nuts.

The 'x' command was added to Dominions 4 after Dominions 5 launched with it.

Another hands shortcut is 'CTRL-s' which shows all the saved orders of the 1-0 slots.

An important reminder: '?' is the shortcut which shows all shortcuts available in a particular screen, wherever you are in the UI.

Also, the tips at launch and while turn resolving are very usefull.

Other handy things:

- you can directly issue orders to troops in the troops screen ('t' or 'y') by directly overing the mouse above the troops' order and press 2 keys: one for the order, the second for the target (ie.: 'h' then 'R' means 'hold and attack rearmost'; 'g' for 'guard commander' or 'e' then 'A' for 'fire Archers and keep distance')

- you can directly by PD while in the Nation Overview ('F1') by clicking on any PD value of any province; it will bring you to the PD screen

Is it possible to reorder mages ? When a bunch of different mages are scattered in an army, it becomes pretty difficult to keep count on who's doing what, whereas if I could for exemple put the communion masters in top of the list and the slaves in the bottom, it would really make things easier.

I'm fairly certain no, as I seem to remember the list is ordered by a unique troop ID that's created when the unit is spawned. As the order that mages act in is now random (it used to flip a coin for starting from the top or bottom of the list and then go up or down the unique troop ID list in order) there's no reason that commanders couldn't be ordered in alphabetical order, which would allow renaming to alter their list position, but I can't see it being something that would be a high dev priority.

Could make a suggestion on the wish list.

As others have said, no you can't.

It would be one of the nicest things the Devs could add to help handle large complex armies converging from different directions. It only needs an additional level of indexing between the actual database and the display screen and then you could list all your mages and all your troop commanders in whatever order you want. Perhaps make it drag and drop or give them a list number for the army order that can be edited.
