Whats the deal with Ether Warriors
At a guess I would say about twenty Ether Warriors and an Ether Lord thats all that was in the enemy army. I confidently attacked it with my best troops and commander who had won untold battles and swept all before them.

They didn't manage to kill a single Ether Warrior and my entire army was butchered in moments. 200 men all dead but a handful of survivors.

Eventually I got lucky with another army and despite it also being almost butchered to a man, there was 200 to begin with some of my troops got around and killed the Ether Lord causing the army to run away and as they were deep in my territory they all died/vanished.

My question being as they are Ethereal and I think they have a 75% chance to avoid attacks just how are you meant to effectively combat these things?

Any help would be appreciated :steamhappy:

In a normal or drain province they are much less impressive.

@Gorgeous Joe. There's a lot of summons with magical attacks of one kind or another, but you are basically fighting the ether warriors game in that case. For example, Fire Elementals can effectively damage the Ether Warriors, but the warriors will deal devastating damage in return. It's better to bury them under battle evocations. They can't take lightning bolts much better than your average soldier.

They are also magic beings themselves, and thus vulnerable to a number of anti-magic being spells like Opposition - especially given that they operate best in Magic provinces, which lower magic resistance.

Magic weapons will kill any ethereal opponent.

I think.

Magic weapons and magic spells.. Evocations and such. Elite units with magic weapons will tear through them (only available to units if they have it naturally or if you have the magic weapon bless). Both magic weapons and magic spells ignore ethereal.

None of the units I can recruit including my best units have a magical attack. I'm assuming there are creatures you can summon with magical attacks? My leader had a magic sword but he exploded as soon as he reached the ether warriors.........

Are they demonic? Can they be banished?

The easiest counter to this is the magic weapon bless. It's very cheap. Other than that you want to use evocations, certain summons, or SC/thugs.

Funny thing about Ether Warriors - if the enemy summons them they're unstoppable, but if I summon them, they suck giant gobs of elephant snot.

Thanks for all the help guys/gals. I like the game because of things like this.......just when you hit cruise mode and think everything is going your way *BAM* it slaps you in the face. I've nearly lost my kingdom on several occasions due to not knowing all the MANY things there is to learn :steamhappy:

The latest thing was my prophet who was a mighty hero leading from the front of his vast army died suddenly and it took me ages to figure out why. phophets when they are fighting in enemy territory receive a negative impact on their HP based on dominion strength hence he only had 3 HP :steamfacepalm::steamsad:

There is also a lot QB sacking that goes on in this game which is really annoying as the A.I armires can easily destroy province armies with that tactic as they use such donkey tactics :steamfacepalm:

That and others things have led to many expletive moments but its a great game none the less.
