To heal a mummy
Is there any way to heal a mummy (or other undead) of an affliction? I'm not talking about blesses, since this is mid-game, and I don't really want to try and wish the affliction away. Are there any other options?

Your best bet is gift of health, other option is having them shrouded if they are not sacred and you have recuperation bless, no need for shroud if the unit is already is sacred. No other options.

I even got a chalice, or whatever the unique buildable is which supposedlyheals 5 a turn, but no liuck. Are mummies meant to be unhealable? I wouldn't care much except the mummy has mute and is my pretender. I'd love to have a level 5/6 (not sure which since he's got halved magic, but 3 holy) Holy pretender with hundreds of undead leadership walking around, but I gotta find a way to heal him first.

And yes, I do have some high level nature mages built up, so I should have gift of health as soon as I get all the way through the enchantment tree.

Undead don't heal the way non-undead do. The only ways to heal afflictions on undead units are Gift of Health and apparently the recuperation bless (never tested that myself). Immortal undead also have a chance of healing afflictions when they respawn, and I -think- that's the case when a god is called back from the dead, too.

Well, gift of health has been cast, so we shall see how that goes. Don't think the AIs smart enough to dispell it, so hopefully he should be healed at some point.

Mute is a real problem, because otherwise Blood Feast would have been the easiest and fastest way (for most nations that is).

I also want to mention that I love the title of this thread. It sounds like a self-help book or a moving autobiography. "To heal a mummy, by Ramesses II"

Also keep in mind the healing number doesn't mean the amount of units that get healed. It means the amount of healing attempts. Most things get healed on their first attempt but several like Mute and Feebleminded can take a lot of tries to heal.

Oh. Probably a bad thing I lost the chalice to a knight of the chalice when I moved it on a different commander, then. :P

So my mummy has finally healed! And I've discovered a "cheese" you can attempt to laboriously raise holy levels forever. Simply kill your pretender, resurrect them as a mummy, and then make them your pretender again. Really inefficient, but theoretically you can just keep buffing them up forever. Got me a Holy 6 mummy right now, which can turn himself into holy 7 by casting divine channeling, so, with LA C'tis's already easy Holy 3 spam, should be pretty frightening for anybody else to deal with.

Oh, you mean the mummy is your prophet, not your pretender...

Interesting! I remember some folks talking about this potential, but no one that I knew of claimed they tested it until now.

It is somewhat well known, it just might not be worth the time investment as you need to wait 6 turns before you can rename a prophet and of course there is gem investment as well to revive it over and over again.

to reach high H level, it is probably much easier to use communion on mage priest.
MA Pythium I know for sure could effectively have a H6 Prophet by turn 3 thanks to communion. Won't be much use that early though, precious few spells.

I think it's probably a better plan to simply prophetize a mummy or bring back a prophet as a mummy then prophetize someone else, that way you get two level 3's
