Thunder Weapons v's Mistform
I just crashed 20 pegasus riders with thunder weapons into an enemy Celestial Griffon pretender that had Mistformed itself.

I thought that the Thunder weapons would count as magical and 'pop' the Mistform so that I could start inflicting damage on the pretender.

However after many hits the Mistform was intact and the Pretender chewed up all my poor old pegasus riders.

Grateful if anyone knows whether Mistform should have been popped by Thunder Weapons. Maybe I was just very unlucky?

Thanks!

Magical weapons are what pop mistform. The various weapon bless effects add elemental damage, but that damage is not magical.

Edit: It seems I was mistaken, the bonus damage from elemental weapons is, in fact, magical.

The damage is magical, but the weapons are not. They don't count for ethereal, mistform, invulnerable etc. Magic weapons allow them to hit, magic damage has other effects

Personally I think this needs to be fixed. As it is it doesn't make sense.

He probably had some SR. Thunder Weapons are only 2 damage, even if it is Armor Negating.

Yeap, shock resistance most likely prevented all the damage from the thunder weapons, thus not removing the mist form.

I thought it was 1 AN and 3 fatigue? But yeah its not magical...

Doesn't mistform laugh at damage 20-25 and under if its mundane anyway?

All Elemental damage in the game is magical. Even ostensibly non-magical fire such as that from a Daduchos torch counts as magical damage.

However, Mistform does require you to do at least 1 point of magical damage with an attack to "pop" it. As you were using Thunder Weapons and the enemy was casting Mistform, I'd hazard that they simply had enough Shock Resistance from either their native A magic, their bless, or a cast of Resist Lightning that your damage was never able to beat their resist.

All elemental damage is magical, but the weapons don't count as magical. So they will still have a hard time hitting ethereal creatures.

Ah brilliant. Thanks for the responses guys. I just double checked and he did have shock resistance - a whopping 28 points of it. So the weapons themselves weren't magical, and the elemental damage which is magical was being negated by the shock resistance...
