Question: how do I get rid of a curse?

One of my main commanders has been cursed and I don't know what to do about it.

Curses are permanent.

atleast in dominions 4, not possible to cure curses. immortality can make it negligible. You could experiment with wishing, but I doubt a cure curse was added. ;P

Load up that commander with all diseased and cursed units, and send him on a suicide mission deep into enemy territory. May as well get some use out of him while he's still alive.

Immortality no longer helps with curses--it no longer includes affliction healing, except sometimes when you come back from the dead. (Seems to be a fairly low chance of healing in my experience, and you pick up other afflictions in the process of dying repeatedly. Not worth relying on IMO.)

But for the most part it's safe to simply ignore curses. Curses just increase your chance of getting afflictions, and if your commander is tough enough that he rarely takes damage, curses don't matter.

Doesn't it mean that at least the recuperation and healer abilities works against curses? (Of course the curse itself wont disappear, but afflictions will become negligible)

Nothing can cure curse or horror marks. There was even a tip saying so in the game, saying it's "truly permanent". But curse's only effect is to make you rack up more afflictions, so you can compensate by giving -affliction items, regeneration, or trying to get recuperation or healers.

Curse can be removed by the wish spell using "Remove curse". This does require Astral 9 and 100 pearls, though, meaning that you'll probably only want to use it on a prophet or pretender and not just cheap units.
