Charged body (air blessing) needs more explanation.
Well, the blessing deal 10 damage to both the attacker and defender when struck, it doesn't require incarnate, when combined with high hp units and shock resistance, you got an early indy steam roller, sounds too good to be true right?

I tested it on Pythium hydra unit and found two things from the detailed damage calculation:
-The charge only zap every once in a while, and i have already taken into account successful hit.
-The shock resistance doesn't reduce the zapping damage, so you can't get away free of charge.

Why didn't you say so...

I'd say it looks like a bug... otherwise, charged body looks completely useless. Why would you PAY for the ability to make your sacred units die earlier?

I think Charged Body only works once per battle, like the spell

Shock res isn't useless, but minor shock res (+5) simply reduces damage from average 10 to average 5. Need Major Resist or both Minor+Major to be really safe, which requires your pretender to have 7 or 8 Air

The only real use for this blessing in my opinion is Flaggellants or Khlyst, a modified (non-incarnate, much cheaper) version of Blood Vengeance strat. They're kinda useful in early expansion to act as landmines for heavy cav and other tough indies, and can be somewhat useful against sacred rushers/thugs and as extremely cheap bodyguards

From what I experienced, the Shock Charge occurs when your soldier IS hit, even if his protection blocks all the damage. Once triggered, your soldier loses the charge, so it works only once per soldier.

The shock does 10 + 1 DRN.
If you have shock resist, it is substracted to the first number.
IE. with 15 shock resistance : -5 + 1 DRN

If you take more than 0 damage from the shock, you may get Stunned.

Also on cheap summons, such as ancestral spirits,
(also valkyries/morrigans, boars, condors, and beastbats)

The shock resistance should reduce the damage you get from charged body. It just has a chance to roll damage that goes past it. Ehck advanced battle log with 3

Shock Resistance DOES protect you against your own Charged Body by lowering the base damage of the shock (if you have 15 SR, then base damage starts at -5). The damage is still subject to a random modifier and thus can still exceed your defenses. If you have less than 15 SR, prepare to take quite a bit of damage... This is a real problem if you have fragile sacred commanders. They can be easily killed by a stray flier.

Shock Resistance only fires once. This is true even if you cast Divine Blessing several times. The charge can't be renewed once expended on a unit (until the next battle).

It looks like Charged Bodies triggers the moment you are hit by an attack that gets past defense. Protection or even Ethereal can prevent the damage and it still triggers. Notably, I do not see it firing when your sacred is damaged by repel or when it is trampled.

Predictable but unfortunate. Does BV trigger in those cases? Inquiring minds want to know

You'd be better off with only Charged Body or only Death Explosion, since Death Explosion will trigger off a bunch of other Death Explosions without ever triggering their Charged Bodies.

Wrath of the Ancestors + Charged Body is conceptually interesting, but the opportunity cost is really high since you lose all opportunity to take a better blessing.
