0.0.1 version difference is nothing, really not to worry about it!

It is simply due to that the retail (I prefer to say: standalone) version can be updated directly by the developers, while an update on Steam always takes some time - until the update is acknowledged and distributed to all Steam download servers.

The ability to see your account key at will when you’re running Steam is a fun one.

About the only one I'm afraid. This is as barebones Steam port as possible. No workshop, no achievements (they could realistically make several achievements per built-in singleplayer track, one for each medal), not to mention the weird-ass locator monkey business (I remember you used to be able to upload avatars/skins/custom car models, oh yeah, that was a thing, once I saw someone driving a freaking box from SM64) directly to TMU servers, now there's that locator thing I can't for the love of everything dear figure out and not for the lack of trying.

what i experienced are some issues with joining various servers, they would just kick me back to the server menu because my client is outdated. what i did is download tmu from the player page and copy and paste the entire folder into the steam version one.

"Now there's that locator thing" - there always was btw. You need to put the .loc file in the right folder so that other players can download your skin off of you (it's P2P kinda like torrents). You will see your skin in game if you download the skin file, but unless you have the .loc file with it, others won't see your neat skin and will only see a default car.

No, I definitely remember early on in the United/Nations life time you were able to upload skins and even custom car models to Nadeo servers (I've once seen someone racing using that crate you can pick up in Super Mario 64 as a custom car model). You did that from one of the launcher sections.

Yes, even in TMO/TMS you could... with the .loc file.

I once trolled a 200 player server with a big ass truck that took almost all of my screen. I could barely see anything, nor could anyone else. :steamhappy:
