I don't understand
Can someone please explain to me what is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ about this port?

From what i can see, the port plays fine. The graphics are good. The no-widescreen and no-fullscreen is a bit off but only a minor gripe for me. After playing a good half-hour of this game, it feels like i'm right back on my bed playing my dreamcast! :D

I don't understand why everyone is griping so much on this version. There is not much of a difference between the dreamcast and gamecube versions (i've played both) besides graphical updates and some game gear games.

But i'd like to understand clearly why everyone thinks this is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ port because i'm getting mixed messages from the community. I'm just curious is all.

Thank you for your time. :)

1) The config tool doesn't work, unless you mess around with the registry.
2) Border restricting 16:9 and HD. The 2003 port had that, why not this one?

Yeah, not much point buying this port when you can just buy the 2003 one.

I got the 2003 version put into the directories the new release has so I basically "fixed" this version by making it the other version.

3) The 2011 port is locked at an internal resolution of 640x480, every other resolution is just lazily upscaled.

you'd think they'd up the internal rendering resolution. It looked like they did on the 360/PS3.

You sure it's 640x480 ? It sure doesn't look like it given the quality of shots like

Given the size of the pixels on high contrast edges, this looks to be native within the 720p border. So it seems it certainly has more than 480 vertical lines of resolution.

Here's what an actual 640x480 game looks like within a 720p border

Yeah, I'm sure the internal resolution is locked at 640x480. What makes me sure of this is forcing anti-aliasing through the graphics drivers, it only works at 640x480, doesn't work at any of the other resolutions. Something similar happens in Sonic 4 Episode 1, which is locked at 1280x720 instead (anti-aliasing only works at that resolution in S4Ep1).

Another thing is that SADX 2011 looks considerably worse than SADX 2004 at a resolution like 1024x768, this is what makes it more evident that the SADX 2011 port isn't playing natively at any resolution higher than 640x480.

Have you googled a way to fix the config? It's actually easy to do and find.

Im making a replacment config tool that actually works and allowes the game to be played in 16:9 with no borders.

I will probably upload it later.
Lykan Dec 29, 2012 @ 9:26pm
ooh! sounds good. have you tested it to see if it works?

The problem with this port is that SEGA had a great version of this game for PC, already (which you could even unlock Game Gear's Sonic games) and they are selling this emulated version, instead.

See, the 2003 port spins the disc to mach speeds to load the stages. I feel like this could destroy my Gamecube, so I installed this version on my PC after buying the Sonic Hits Collection (one heck of a deal).
As a general reply, are the hearts in the description Steam's version of bleeps? I feel like I don't know what this guy's trying to say.

I'm basically saying, what's so bad about this port? I tried to say sh*tty but steam wouldn't let me. :3
