Dreamcast models/textures mod?
Any mods for this? The DX port looks too shiny for me.

I just want to say my computer can run a ps2 emulator no problem, same with dreamcast emulator. An xbox 360 emulator would wreck my pc's ram and processing.

How do I no nothing about it. The dreamcast, by hardware, is more powerful than a 64 bit console. Because itwas relased 2 or three years after the n64. it is technically part of the 6th generations of consoles (PS2, GameCube and Xbox)

So.. no DC models mod?
F-Man Jul 13, 2016 @ 1:06am
I did make a no-gloss mod for the character models if anybody cares.

Requires BetterSADX as all mods do.

Welp, MainMemory just did a NoGloss mod that doesn't require you to change the chrmodels_orig.dll file: https://github.com/MainMemory/SADXNoGloss/releases/tag/v1

I still recommend downloading my archive anyway for the high-res textures. Removing the gloss makes the characters' fur too dark and you can see the pixelization all too well. Just take whatever you need and put it in your NoGloss mod folder.

EDIT: as of right now that mod also removes the gloss from robot characters and Super Sonic, unlike mine. Something to keep in mind. It might be fixed later. You also need my sonic.exe for Sonic and Tails when piloting the Tornado.

As far as emulating Dreamcast goes (I sadly don't have a real one, though I did want one), I use NullDC.

My laptop is an MSI one from (I think) 2013 and was one of the best for that year compared to now and it runs OK.

Am I really the only person on earth who can't understand what the appeal of the DC models even is? I get why the textures and lighting from the DC version are so revered, but the models themselves recieved a much needed IMPROVEMENT for the DX port. I swear the proportions and wacky expressions of the original made everything look like bad claymation.

Tomb Raider 1 to 5's models had bad cutscene animation and I still like them. I've seen worse 3D models than either Sonic or Tomb Raider anyway, both of which are examples of good early 3D models, like Wallace and Gromit or Chicken Run if we use that claymation comparison.

If you want examples of good early 3D models I would NOT pick dreamcast sonic by a long shot. The playstation crash bandicoot games look much better than DC Sonic Adventure.

What about Descent 1 and 2? The weird angles of old models kind of make more sense there because the enemies are mining robots.

I thought it was shiny to begain with, maybe its because I used mine on big screens my dad insited we had to own when I was teen and this was new on dreamcast.

And DC Palette Lighting is now released, so removing gloss is no longer even needed! http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=36292
