Help Modding the text

I'm wanting to make a mod for those who want to use the japanesse voices but also want accurate subtitles to go with them but I can't find the location of them in the fies any help?

While I an unable to help with finding the suttitles in the files (as my game is uninstalled due to my using the Dreamcast versions now), I do ask:

Could you do this for the 1998 Dreamcast version as well? That is the version I use nowadays and I think it is better than DX, though I still use DX on Xbox.

It would also be essential for westerners to fully appriciate the game as SA1 1998 is Japanese only and I am only learning it; I know basic level Japanese and no kanji, just hiragana and katakana. So an accurate subtitles mod for SA1 1998, cussing and all would be awesome, escecially for the Egg Viper fight, where Eggman sounds like he's calling Sonic a "b.astard" several times in Japanese: it was replaced with his "It's no use, give up!" line in the english dub.

Just realised something: try using the text from this mod to see if it helps: https://github.com/SKingBlue/Sonic-Adventure-Retranslated/releases

Again, I request that you also make a version of this mod using these texts for the the 1998 Dreamcast version because that is the version of the game I play nowadays, the reasons given in both the screenshots above, and the retranslated mod text to go with them.

Ah. Whoops. Oh well, could you also make a mod for SA1 1998 as well using that text? It's because I use that version nowadays and I only reinstalled DX plus BetterDX and the Dreamcast conversion just so I could play the subs mod, but I want it as an actual Dreamcast ROM too, as that game is Japanese only and I'm still only learning. It would also come in useful for people who want the accurate subs but don't bother learning the language too.

Sorry to necro the thread, but are you going to do a Sonic Adventure Retranslated for Sonic Adventure 2?

I also want a version done for the Dreamcast copies of both of the games as a ROM hack as I use the Dreamcast games now, and unlike BetterSA1DX Dreamcast Conversion, (which I also now use thanks to said mod and the sub mod) there is no Dreamcast Conversion mod for SA2 besides the models as far as I know.

According to the translator for SA1 Retranslated, "SonicMasta57" may be doing one. However, Windii said that SonicMasta57 is on Twitter and I don't use either Twitter or Facebook. I don't really use social media in general, so I have no way to ask him if he's finished his one yet nor how its development is going.

Ah, so is the name Windii mentioned your Twitter username? I could always reinstall SA2 Battle and try to look myself though I'm not sure I'll fare any better. Just in case, try hacking a Dreamcast ROM if you can, emuparadise or the iso zone may have one. I'd put mine on Onedrive for you but I can't spare the space since SA1 1998 is taking up too much room there.

EDIT: I asked about it on another thread in the SA2 forum and I was told that it may be imbedded in the executable as well, like it may have been with SA1.

If you still get notifications for this thread, I was wondering if you could also make Sonic Retranslated mods for Shadow the Hedgehog (all platforms), the PC fan remake of Sonic 2006 for when the full game comes out and the PC version of Sonic Heroes? I've gotten the Japanese script to work in my old disk copy of Heroes but I need a subs mod as I am just an amatuer learner of Japanese and I don't want to use the s.hitty english dub subtitles that come with the game.

Shadow doesn't need one as badly but it would still be nice, for accuracy purposes: I have recently started emulating the gamecube version on Dolphin to tie me over until Sega finally make an uncensored version for Steam.

(and being able to somehow burn such a sub mod into my original Xbox disk copy of Shadow from back in the day would be cool too, albeit much harder)

Sonic is E rated series.
It doesn't have anything to uncensor. What you see is what was always there (barring cut beta elements).

Sonic is E rated series.
It doesn't have anything to uncensor. What you see is what was always there (barring cut beta elements).

Cut beta elements of Shadow that were graphics and story related e.g. more swears, Maria dying onscreen, black arms bleeding instead of leaking pus, GUN soliders dying instead pretending to be injured etc. were what was censored: they were cut to give it a slightly lower rating. I want them put right back.

As for Sonic being E rated... The Japanese script is darker, though sometimes just by a little. Windii and BlackBlur7 on youtube show what is actually being said in the games with translations of the japanese voices. You'll need to enable english captions on youtube to see the translaions though, but the SA1 translations are availible in-game thanks to SKing Blue's SA1 Retranslated mod.

He is currently trying to do one for SA2 as well.
