Valen Shadowbreath wont attack, cant be removed from party and thinks that he isnt in the party

Title yeah.
I grabbed valen before the end of chapter 2, he died at some point and i guess it happened after i rez'd him, cause now he follows me into new areas, but just stands there, is in the party but wont fight, i cant tell him to leave through dialogue or the menu, and attempts to get him killed haven't worked out.
