Ovr no longer is used. The files were moved to a proper bif container (like a zip but not compressed)
We should update nwnexplorer to read it by default so people can get the files more easily perhaps but people have put them in various places online.
1. Download NWN explorer -> https://github.com/virusman/nwnexplorer/releases/tag/1.8.3
2. Extract NWN explorer and then run it.
3. Click open, navigate to NWN install folder and go to data folder then select nwn_retail.key
4. Under game data, navigate to ruleset.2da.
5. Right click export and save it to My documents/neverwinter nights/override.
6. Open ruleset.2da and then change multiclass limit to 8 again.
I followed your steps but it did not work. I did put the edited ruleset.2da in My documents/neverwinter nights/override (its empty before I put anything in) , but no changes happened. It seems that the game does not check the modified file to make the change inside game.
If I use NWNexplorer to open nwn_retail.key again, the ruleset.2da file under game data is still the default one(multiclass limit is 3), I mean, it should be happen since the steps above is actually extract a copy of ruleset.2da and we make changes in that copy, but the original one is still locked. Obviously, NWNexplorer can only show the file content but do not allow us to make any changes to files, so I guess there should be a step where we can import the edited ruleset.2da back into game data
