While i was happy to think/know this is doing the underdark thing where you get your items later i see your point. As a archer having no bow and arrows is annoying. The game does shower you in light armor and hatchets, i even found a heavy armor top. One nice thing is you start in a city where the gaurds can help you. Sadly those hatchets and such are off the dead bodies of the guards. Plus I'm playing on easy so yea this would be alot worst on more challanging levels.
To that end I suggest the old reliable 1 monk, 2 paladin, the rest in sorcerer with a pixie familiar to act as your trap smith. This build will provide a fair bit of inherent protection, and have plenty of stopping power with the right spells. I always suggest lingering spells that get more mileage than a single DPS cast. A good summon, and the right henchman when available will let you feel like you have a full party with just you, your familiar, your summon, and your henchman.
Alternatively take only a splash of sorc early for a few useful tricks like true-strike and the like, and then focus on monk, and then do the sorc levels in epic where they wont hurt your BAB, and will add loads of spell power on top of a potent divine martial artist. Monk being the other go to for not needing gear as much as any other warrior.
Really only option if you are getting thrown into campaigns where your weapon dependency can be a massive liability.
It is unfortunate we didn't get a Fighter or Paladin in Targos (unless I missed them), though.
