While the steam version has the Steam Workshop, i find NIT better because it makes managing mods easier and has a game save manager.
Ontop of adding restrictions to the gameplay/build aspect of the game, leading to a weird meta forming.
If on the other hand you already own the EE version on GOG just stick with that. The workshop here always misplaces files for this game so your better off sticking with NWVault for mods and modules and that's really Steam's only possible selling point over the GOG version.
Plus faster updates, unfortunately. Nowadays it's probably only a matter of days or weeks at worst, but the differences used to be huge. At some point, I bought the Steam version (on sale) despite already owning the GOG version, because months and years passed without the GOG version being updated.
On Steam you also have the benefit that you can easily revert to previous or preview versions/developer builds, and - if that's of interest to you - that switching languages is quicker and easier (vs. complete manual re-installation on GOG). Although, tbh, I don't know how Galaxy handles it, I only use GOG without the client.
