Is it worth it?
Is it worth it to buy this game again? I bought it when it was on cd and loved it. Played tons of multiplayer and then my life changed and didn't come back for years. I lost my cds so I bought the GOG version a few years ago ( i dont think it was offered on steam yet). I've recently been playing that but the mods at NW vault are tricky to install and I just wonder if I should just go ahead and get the steam version too.
Nevermind... I'm obviously gonna do it lol. The hours of enjoyment way outbalance the price. Hours upon hours playing on the Aventia and then the Neversummer servers.... jeez.
Well.... obviously theres no real point but i'll go ahead and post this lol
Maybe just to find out if it's even possible to play multiplayer anymore?

Of course. There is still lots of activity on persistent worlds under the multi player tab.

I would just stick to GoG version if i were you. I recommend using Neverwinter Nights Installer Tool (NIT) to install mods as it simplifies the process.

While the steam version has the Steam Workshop, i find NIT better because it makes managing mods easier and has a game save manager.
Yes, its a fantastic game, just finished original campaign again and moving on to expansions.

Yes
For co-op and solo play, definetively. Multiplayer? Not so much, most servers are dead, the ones that arent are hard to get into, or have an unreasonable dificulty spike compared to the base game, doing often little to prepare players for this.

Ontop of adding restrictions to the gameplay/build aspect of the game, leading to a weird meta forming.
Assuming the version you have on GOG in the Diamond Edition and not the Enhanced Edition, then you definitely want to pick this up. Worth it just for the scaling UI, the Diamond Edition is hard to play at 1080p.

If on the other hand you already own the EE version on GOG just stick with that. The workshop here always misplaces files for this game so your better off sticking with NWVault for mods and modules and that's really Steam's only possible selling point over the GOG version.

Plus faster updates, unfortunately. Nowadays it's probably only a matter of days or weeks at worst, but the differences used to be huge. At some point, I bought the Steam version (on sale) despite already owning the GOG version, because months and years passed without the GOG version being updated.

On Steam you also have the benefit that you can easily revert to previous or preview versions/developer builds, and - if that's of interest to you - that switching languages is quicker and easier (vs. complete manual re-installation on GOG). Although, tbh, I don't know how Galaxy handles it, I only use GOG without the client.
