Polymorph self
I am a Wizard 8. I took Polymorph self thinking i can become an Umber Hulk and attack but after i polymorph, I cannot do ANYTHING. when i hit attack on a Zombie, it just stands doing nothing. From time to time it seems to make an opportunity attack, but never attacks. What am i missing here. I don't see any special menu for attacks or anything? Is this Polymorph nothing like the Polymorph from 5e? Do i not get the attacks, etc?

I got the same problem when shapeshifting my druid. Sometimes I can attack, often I can't.

Are you playing the original campaign? One of the expansions? Does your actual model transform into the Umber Hulk but it's a frozen model? Is it moving like it's breathing but it's not registering any of your actions? Put all the details in so we have a better understanding of what's going on

I don't know what "Original" campaign means but it is the 1st campaign i see in the game (Neverwinter Nights: Neverwinter nights Chapter 1). Yes i become an Umber Hulk, seems like it's breathing, even seems to take opportunity attacks against creatures (which the mechanism of i have no understanding) but when i hit attack on a creature, it does nothing but stand there (breathing movements?) I don't have any mods.

Yes, the first campaign is usually referred to as Original Campaign, or OC. Does this happen with all kinds of different enemies, they are not invisible or hidden (half-transparent)?

basic Zombies and also the undead baddy there. so no nothing special. 1st time trying it. i mean i can see them. i could attack them when not in Umber hulk form

Step 1: Go to the safe place (like temple of Tyr or central plaza), polymorph self into umberhulk or whatever you want.
Step 2: rest.
Step 3: save and load game (may work without it).
Step 4: profit! Now you will attack as intended with this current character whenever shapeshifted or polymorphed.

P.S. I cant believe beamdog didnt fix this ancient bug. Overall - you cant attack only first time you shift form or polymorph.

Is that bug specific to the EE or was in Diamond already?

IIRC, this bug is from original game. I do not remember, if they fixed it in Diamond Edition, I think I played a druid once and do not remember such issues. It was time ago and I may mess it with NWN2 tho...

But no, its not EE specific bug, its staight from 2002 :)

Thanks J.C. Denton for the info.

I did import the game from a save made with platinum edition, so I guess for the enhanced edition it was like my first transformation.

I remember now, yes it was in the original, but it was fixed. I played all through the first act of the OC in NWN v1.69 and had no issue.
EE 82.8193.20 : problem appears - looks like they did not base the EE on the latest version of the original.

Best report it; the devs may well not even be aware of the issue, or think that the old 1.69 fix was applied to EE. https://beamdog.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1

seems like it worked. but as Umber Hulk it only attacks 1 time (?) Still not sure if it is just taking op attacks or making actual attacks. will get back
Thanks

Check your character sheet. AFAIR umberhulk got rogue-like BAB progression, so by lvl 8 you will have 6 BAB, means 2 attacks per round.
You also can check combat logs, plus by default attack of opportunities are shown with text.

seems to work with the rest WA. doesn't seem to be very useful anyway so. it's not like 5e where you just revert to your regular form after your polymorph "dies"
