Hosting multiplayer games in 2024

I cant get my friend to connect no matter what we do is there a good guide im missing? HE* keep seeing the errors were getting when connecting to each other, but i have no idea what were doing wrong or how to do this in 2024 back in the day we all just did lan games but now that were in different area codes, i have no clue what im doing.

In 2024 people still demanding for help without explaining almost anything. What OS do you use? Win? Linux? What error exactly do you see? Did you follow the wiki posted by proleric? Did you open router ports? Do you have cgnat? Check this , It serves for every game, not just wolf et

i legit had no idea this was a thing all i see is neverwinter vault when i google anything about it. but its mostly outdated

well i wasnt searching for help with the errors just a general guide for playing with a friend in the campaign story.

windows 11
first it was a name error then it was just a connection error idr the exact names because i was the one inviting him.
didnt port forward didnt think id need to for this game its so old, i guess i should have known.

not sure what a cgnat is.

TCP: 27015-27030, 27036-27037
UDP: 4380, 5121, 27000-27031, 27036

in your router. This has been a thing ever since 2001 when this game released. Second make sure the game AND the server is "allowed" in windows firewall. If none of this works then i dont know.
