This folder is the main reason why so many of us cannot start (or cashes) the game and verifying the game file within your steam library will not help as.....
The Neverwinter nights folder in found here " C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Neverwinter Nights " is for the main game files. This is the non modifiable (if you do modify any files and verify the files it will download them & replace them), it is here that Steam checks your copy of the game for errors.
However if you delete the first folder in Documents (or if you know the file that is bugged), it will (many times) work again.
Hope this helps.
Do you know if my old... ancient save files from old neverwinter nights can work with this new version of nerverwinter? i own the original game with the 2 expansions and i got plenty of save files i wish to explore again.
If some of them are fan-made modules, you'll also need to copy any hak / tlk / etc to the appropriate subfolders.
Fan-made modules generally work OK. There are occasional exceptions, though workarounds are generally found for those - ask at Neverwinter Vault.
Note that new saves made in EE do NOT work on old versions of NWN - even when playing from an old save or module.
