Online community is 33% on 1.69, 67% on NWNEE. NWNEE has all of 1.69's custom content and Steam Workshop.
Then i guess the next question is how likely are these "halfway in" crashes? And is it because of custom content or does a clean install crash aswell?
Another thing I forgot to ask about is multiplayer, I want to play the OC's with at least one friend. I know it works over steam, which is likely to be more stable than 1.69 over gameranger, unless you can tell me otherwise?
There are isolated issues with custom content. For example, Chapter 2 of The Bastard of Kosigan is notorious for crashing (but still worth playing for the great story). That's one module in thousands, though.
Over the years, I've occasionally lost a save in 1.69 but not in EE.
As with all games, it pays to save often, using several different files to ensure there's more than point you can get back to.
Quite a lot actually. All the release notes are not collected in one place on the web that I could find unfortunately, but you can find them on Beamdog's blog if you go looking. These are the changes in the initial EE release alone: https://www.beamdog.com/files/release_notes/nwnee_release_notes_final.pdf
