Modules not showing up in game
I'm hoping someone can help! I've been paging through various forums and have yet to encounter someone else with this issue... or a solution!

I've downloaded a couple mods from the Vault (for this, let's use A Tale of Fur and Frost). I've dropped the mod into the Documents > Neverwinter Nights > modules and the hak into the hak folder. I've done this before many years ago, in fact, and some of my other mods are there like Gladiatrix. Great!

I start up the game and the older modules I've installed appear in the other content area (Gladiatrix is there!), but no sign of Fur and Frost. It's as if the mod list hasn't been updated/refreshed.

I've checked again and there is no other location where Gladiatrix is installed, so I'm placing Fur and Frost in the right place. I don't have Diamond installed. I've confirmed that the location of the files match the ini. I don't have any other versions of the Documents > Neverwinter Nights folder. And there are no issues loading my earlier mods that I downloaded, saves and new games in the modules all start properly. So the game has to be accessing the folder fine. I've tried restarting the game, restarting Steam, even restarting my computer. No luck. The new modules I downloaded and installed today don't appear.

As I said, it's just like it needs to refresh the content list in game or something. Or be forced to check the folder again.

Ever encountered anything similar? Any ideas? I'm a bit baffled.

Okay, tried one more thing: I saw someone say that their modules were only showing up in multiplayer, so I checked that out, too. Oddly enough, the modules I had downloaded through Steam Workshop (Enigma Island, for example) appear there and not in the single player module selection menu (it's been awhile since I last played and I forgot I had installed a few modules through the Workshop), but still no luck with the ones I just installed.

Another thing I discovered: The recent modules I downloaded from the Workshop also aren’t showing up in multiplayer or in single player. I confirmed that they were downloaded by checking where Steam stored them—they are there. I tried moving them into the appropriate folders in documents to see if that was the issue, but no luck. Again, some of the downloads—subscriptions from the Workshop from a few years ago (when I last played)—show up at least in multiplayer, but not so with these new ones. It really feels like the game isn’t pulling in any new content in those folders to populate the lists.

I really hope someone can think of a clever solution!

I have a raft of modules in my mod folder, and NONE of them show up under Local. I run Linux, and don't have a My Documents folder, which is where the game is looking.

@oldrocker99 Have you tried editing the ini file to change the path where it looks for the modules? Sounds like that might fix it.

My issue is that I have everything in the right place, the game knows to look there, it sees the old material there, but not the new stuff.

Thanks! I edited the nwn.ini file in .local/share/Neverwinter Nights and added the full path for modules, and it worked!

Any word on this?
Steam Workshop seems to have a problem with modules not showing in-game. Possible solution: If that happens, then copy the module from your steam workshop modules directory (typically c:\programs (x86)\steam\steamapps\workshop and then find the folder where the mod is located). Copy it to Documents\Neverwinter Nights\modules. That should help. The rest of the files seems to work fine (hak etc.)

I'm glad the fix worked for you, oldrocker99! Alas, no update for me. Still is not working and these aren't Steam Workshop downloads, they are almost all ones from the Vault that I have already verified are in the right folder locations.

I had this issue with steam specificaly. i downloaded a couple of mods off the workshop since the new update, and they wouldnt show up in local unless grabbed them from the steam workshop folder and into the my documents folder. it wouldve been nice if beamdog didnt mess with the UI to begin with. i've been seeing alot of people having some sort of independent bug issue's since it rolled out.

Yeah, I wish that was the issue, but alas, these are ones from the NWNVault and still aren't showing up in game--even after the latest update. And once again I confirmed that they are in the Documents/Neverwinter Nights/modules location. This is really disheartening.

For me, the issue was that NWN had created multiple Neverwinter Nights directories in Documents. There was "Neverwinter Nights" and "Neverwinter Nights.0". I backed up my stuff, deleted them all and started the game again, now just 1 folder for nwn
