A shield or a two-handed weapon?
How good is the shield in this game? Which is better, a shield or a two-handed weapon?

Maximum convenience for solo play. 25 strength, the rest in dexterity. Maximum skills. Good damage and protection, in case the mercenaries can't help because of bugs. A minimum of pressing the buttons, for a quick passage of the game. Many other games are waiting for me, but first I need to calculate everything, so as not to over-pass. As a result, something universal. This is not pvp, so i can relax. One of the things that bothered me was, how much a game with a shield, loses to a game without it or vice versa.

If you want Two-Handed weapons you should invest in CON instead of DEX. Because Plater Armor reduce AC bonus from DEX to 1. Just get enough for Whirlwind Attack.

You put points into strength there is plenty of dex boosters available in most of the community stuff and the three original campaigns to keep that moving up with out a significant contribution and always do the math. a sheild adds at a minimum 1 to your ac. It can add as much as 8. More if you're a cleric or have one in your party

I spend most of my time with a bow, so I thought maybe it's not worth focusing so much on strength and it's worth at least throwing the remnants into dexterity.
As far as I understand, there are no heavy or at least medium shields in the game that would give something significant, except for armor. I come to the conclusion that it is still a two-handed weapon.

I have come across magic shield that routinely add 4 or five to Ac and provide immunity to resistance to elemetal damage or poison or even bonuses to skills or attacks.

Throw your bow into any trash bin... Get throwable weapons. They are mighty be default and add STR modifier to damage.

It all depend on what you want... I prefer sword and shield... While being Arcane Archer... XD

Throwing weapons don't have anything unique, right? Like endless ammunition or something? Do you have to restock the entire game? If so, then it's better to have an bow. I value comfort above such bonuses.
Do you mean that being a AA, you run with a sword and a shield, or do you just need them to fight back in close combat?

Can I go into more detail?

Unlimited Ammunition is pretty useless for dedicated archer... And if you're not dedicated archer, you'd better use throwing weapons.

I run with sword and shield mostly, because my AA build is crit based and I have only 4 levels of AA. It is hard to find might +5 and more longbows.

I'll take that into consideration, thank you.
