why sorcerer sucks so much
can't even do anything in this game every fight I get into I just die and I'm playing it like a warrior with sword and shield now...
what am I doing wrong I have dex + 2 with finesse and a rapier and I can't even beat more than 2 enemies in black lake without having to run back to heal
also I have leather armour because I kept dying in regular armour and even though it says 20% chance to fail it's more like 80% so I stopped bothering to cast spells alltogether since magic missile only does like 3 damage and sleep never procs with 16 charisma on level 1 enemies

Sorcerers aren't good melee fighters, even less so on lower levels. Equip a crossbow instead, keep your distance from enemies, let your familiar do the tanking. Learn "Summon creature" on next level up, if you don't have it yet, so you have a second melee fighter in the party. A henchman could be your third. They all keep enemies distracted so you can shoot and cast from the backrow. Lose the armor, better concentrate on staying out of melee reach. In general, advance with caution, draw single enemies away from their group, don't storm into the middle of a battle and allow yourself to get surrounded. I'm assuming you're still low level, casters are still a bit weak at the beginning but get incredibly powerful later on, so don't give up, unless you just don't get along with the playstyle and prefer to mow down enemies with a sword. In that case better choose a fighter type.

I cannot second this and I play on D6D Hardcore rules and didn't skip the Prelude (lvl 3 when I entered Blacklake). I even did not spawn my companion (panther). If you roll your character and use the recommended button on the abilities "tab" lower constitution to 12 and raise intelligence to 14 and grab the Expertise feat.

Another thing is it generally is adviced to do Blacklake last^

When you first talk to Aribeth, she said that you should start in the Peninsula District.
Then the Beggar Nest the Blacklake District Then the Docks.

If you are playing Sorcerer, why is your Charisma so low? I play Sorcerer 🧙‍♂️ often and kick some serious butt

Is that low for a starting character? Attribute points above 16 are expensive during character creation ... Then again, a sorcerer doesn't need that much in the other attributes, so I guess for that class it's affordable.

YES Charisma is the Sorcerer's main spell casting ability . A charisma of 16 limits spell casting to 6 lv. spells. My Sorcerer will always be more powerful than his because mine has MAX Charisma.

Sure, but it won't stay at 16. When they reach the point where they require a higher CHA for lvl 7+ spells, they will have gained it by the additional attribute points you get on leveling. And then there are items that give CHA bonus. Sure, your sorcerer would be more powerful in direct comparison, but unless you play PvP, I don't think it matters all that much. A sorcerer who starts with 16 should get by fine in PvE. 16 is a high value already, for the start. But then again, like I said, other attributes are not that important for the sorcerer, so I guess there's no harm in putting as much in CHA as you can.

I have several questions to OP:
1. Why sorc has Weapon Finesse? Feat that should not exist on sorc in general?
2. Why low level sorc has Magic Missile instead of Burning Hands?
3. Why sorc has Sleep (!) instead of something generally more useful, like Mage's Amor?
4. Where is your Panther (which more useful at low levels)?
5. Where is your Summon (which is useful at low levels)?
6. Where is your Henchman (who is useful for low level pure caster in general)?

okay I visited penninsular and it was a lot easier but I got killed by a gang boss so I am now visiting the beggars cove and killing all the zombies (can finally use spells because they move so slow). Does anyone have any tips for defeating the more powerful enemies? when I summon my familiar it usually just dies in 1 round of combat.

i put one level into rogue because I wanted to play as a sorcerer rogue
as for other two I'm new to tabletop genre and they looked to be the most powerful

Cast Mage's Armor on it and... Endurance with Bull's Strength. It can help at low levels while later you should change Endurance for something more useful. Sorc should rely on buffs at low levels because of very limited number of spells.

If you wanted to play sorc/rogue... It would be better to starts as Bard, who is basically sorc/rogue hybrid of sorts.
Sleep even by discription looks very BAD spell. Magic Missile looks good, at caster level 9+.

Sleep is only good at low levels. I don't bother with it. Mage Armour , Magic Missiles , Burning Hands are much better . Magic Weapon is good until you can get Greater Magic Weapon .
Ghostly Visage, Bull's Strength , See Invisibly helps with the prison Sor.

i was level 2 sorc level 1 rogue at time of posting but now im level 3 sorc level 1 rogue and magic missile is doing a lot more damage, even able to 1 shot some of the weaker enemies.

I use Daelan has my henchman and a Pixie has a familiar. When I was lv 3 I cast Mage Armor , Magic Weapon on my Pixie and Magic Weapon on Daelan. When I made lv 4 I took Flame Weapon and added that to what I cast on them. Them I sat back and watched them kick a##
