Yeah, I want to know too. The reviews make it hard to tell. Is this really less stable than Diamond? I own that, but I don't know if it even runs okay anymore, and if this runs better on a modern system it's worth the $6... I only care about the singleplayer.

As the admin of a cross compatible server (NWN: EE 8166/8181 & NWN Diamond):
Pros:
- Windowed mode can be resized
- Shiny water and a couple of new shaders which, for some makes, the game look a bit better
- Better Toolset
Cons:
- Les stable, mainly if you have an integrated graphic card, but also with other cards.
- Much more GPU intensive: 2x... and more than 2x if you enable the shaders.
- Less DRM free

We could argue on other points, like multiplayer: NWN Diamond still has very good servers, The ability to transform objects: I include that in the Toolset improvements as it is only worth it if it if you are actually building and if its game changing in multiplayer for you, go hop on Sinfar: https://sinfar.net/getting_started/how_to_play.

In general: You want EE if you want to build a module, NWN Diamond if you want to play in single player and if you want to play in multiplayer, you choose based on the servers that you want to play on.

In the case of Sinfar, we are cross compatible, but I recommend players to use NWN Diamond because the stability in my opinion is what matters the most.
The NWN diamond edition that I own doesnt work on new Windows OS, ( like my win10 64 bit) this should be optimized for new PC's

NWN Diamond works very well on Windows 10: https://sinfar.net/getting_started/how_to_play/using_nwn_diamond

For everyone asking the question about NWN vs NWN:EE, please check out the official Roadmap for NWN:EE, which includes features already in the game & features being currently in the works, as well as all the info about bug fixes.

@Mavrixio Please stop spamming Sinfar links in each of your comments. There is a way to talk about NWN without linking Sinfar every time.

I'd like to draw attention to the fact that the server you're linking isn't compatible with the last stable patch of NWN:EE (and NWN:EE got the last stable patch several months ago).

Hey there!

I'm a builder of a NWN:EE Server and i can put some light onto the topic.

First of all, stablity issues are not nearly as prominent as people want to make them.
You have to differenciate how they are caused:

There are 2 causes of stability issues.
1. Client related
2. Custom content related.

The client related ones, the ones Beamdog are responsible for are long fixed.

What is left are custom content related. These are not easy to fix as there are errors and issues that only seem to manifest today in modern environments.

Just 2 days ago we (our project) was able to track down a major oversight of some CC developers that happened over 10 years ago an spreat through countless custom content files.

These small errors, in this case just one wrong number in one line in one file, is hard to track down but teh community (resposible for that) is hard on it!

So in short: The game itself runs stable and perfectly fine.

Another big consideration that should be taken into account is:
The EE version revitalized the game and custom content developers are coing back, building new stuff. But these are nearly 100% developed for EE exclusively as EE brings a lot of new and usefull functions for developers.
So devs won't continue developing for diamond, it will sooner or later die out.

Another imprtant aspect is the integrated server list that works again to find new players but as a singleplayer guy it shoudn't be that important for you.

So I'd say yes grab the game!

I'm running NWN Diamond with 0 problems (after turning on compatibility mode - Win XP sp3 AND downloading/install the 1.69 hotfix) on a new machine with Windows 10 64 bits. No issues with solo camp nor multiplayer.

Wow, I got an official dev response! Thank you for your time!

Too bad that the expansions aren't on sale though. And I always wished for Persuade / Diplomacy to be a Wizard class skill(look, you CAN learn how to speak effectively and Wizards are like the biggest swots of Faerun :steammocking: ).

As a server admin that has been running nwn for the past 17 years I will pitch in, if you plan to run an advanced server your only choice is classic NWN. I run multiple server and I added NWN:EE editions of those servers but I have been waiting over a year for features that would bring NWN:EE to a point where it is comparable to NWN with NWNX2 but they are not there yet. Will they ever arrive? I sure hope so but at this point it is not there yet. NWN:EE has focused more on improving graphics to modernize the experience and porting to other environment but from a server admin perspective there are much to be desired from EE. Anyways short version is if you plan to play on a server you will have to go with what the server allows.

I don't. Pure singleplayer here. But it's nice to have this intel for multiplayer enthusiasts.
