New to the game and new to DD rules
Hey yall,

I have attempted to start this game many times but right at hte start im very much overwhelmed and confused, right out of the gate, Is there anyone out there with some patience that are willing to quest with a noob to all this? Combat is very confusing to me

I really want to get into D&D in real life, and also id love to get into this game since the lore, art, music, classes and role playing really facinates me. I love rpg's, but this ones pretty hardcore and seems to really need knowledge and time. I have alot of turn based and action rpg experience, but ive never played a game with these systems

If you would like to assist this wannabe D&D nerd become a dungeon theif master, please write back i really want to learn

Jump into some of the multiplayer online game people host. That's the best way.

I wouldn't jump into random MP, it will just instill strong feelings of misanthropy and turn you off D&D.

Check out the following sites to learn the rules:
D20srd[www.d20srd.org]

NWN Wiki[nwn.fandom.com]

If you want to learn 5th edition for PnP play, don't bother with NWN. 5th ed is so different from 3rd ed. they're different systems. The D20srd does have a 5e page, maybe you can play Solasta or BG3 when they release to get a feel for the system.

I explain some basics here to another newcomer. Hopefully this will get you started a little bit.

Start with a fighter type and get the Rogue Henchman. That's probably simplest.

Play on easy level and keep your Statistics relatively balanced with a little more Strength and Dexterity. You get bonuses for even numbers. This one is single player + a Non player Henchman, so it's relatively easy.

Go to Gamefaqs.com. They have LOTS of info about the game and building characters. Youtube, of course, is helpful but I thin Gamefaqs is best or possibly a Wiki. Steam is good, but imho not as good.

Good luck!

I'm Sorry Dexterity is less important in this game than in older DnD games as Fighters will be wearing heavy armor.

In Character creation, Just hit the "Recommended" stat button for your first time and go to gamefaqs.com

Play original campaigns first, learn in exactly what you have to invest skill points through google, always collect everything so you can sell it, and buy alot of health potions
