What to do with food?

I just started the SoUT expantion and I have found food items like fish and ham, also empty bottles. Do they have any use?

Sorry, I don't remember much about SoU, so I was hoping someone else would reply - and no guarantees -, but usually these things are just junk. NWN has quite a bit of such useless items and unless a module does something specific with them, they're best ignored (or sold if you're desperate for every single coins). Some junk items are crafting components if crafting interests you, but I think those aren't. I also believe that if they would be important to the plot in SoU, you'd probably not be able to lose them permanently. If you can drop or sell them, it's very likely that you don't need them. If you're worried about it, I'd say just keep one sample item of everything, so you'd notice if at some point in the game it makes a difference. But I don't think it will.

I think you can use the fish to craft something using the machine in Drogan's basement, but it's been a while since I played SoU.

I think the empty bottles are useful for making things in Drogans creation altar. You can craft some useful potions If I remember.

Ok, when I first saw that there was a few hams and fish in the kitchen, I thought that the game maybe had a survival mechanic, or like in Enderal you need to be full to regain health.

I decided to double check and here are the recipes for the grinder from the toolset:
