NWN's included campaigns are in the single-player CRPG vein (though you can play with friends). The expansions especially are quite good. A well-run server with a real human DM is on a whole other level.
NWN's graphics and UI are rather dated. That's being worked on but not ready yet.
It's completely subjective which you prefer. They both involve fantasy creatures, stats, third-person view, and online play, but otherwise don't expect NWN to be WoW.
It is just that the life can't be the same as when you were young. Everything changes as you age, even WoW. Road trips changes. Sex changes. World changes.
