NWN EE crash on startup
My NWN EE suddenly started crashing... And I have read many who have suffered this problem. And I see them posting these..

I start the game, it starts up and then crashes. Not even seeing the logos and intro movie.

I just started playing after a long hiatus. I get to character creation and every time I hit the last tab for 'customize character' it crashes. What's up with that?

I tried this:
Uninstall OpenAL if you have it installed, then restart, then run oalinst.exe in <STEAM_OR_LIBRARY_ROOT>\Steamapps\Common\Neverwinter Nights\bin\win32 to install the correct version of OpenAL.
It works for me!

Ok, so I went to the URLs and tried all of the recommendations that applied to me. It would still crash 100% of the time. I was about to give up entirely when I launched nwmain.exe directly and not through steam. Then I could play the game. So there's something else going on here that I think the Beamdog folks should take a look at.

Mine just don't start. Double click or right click open and nothing. Have reinstalled / rebooted, even tried tried removing OpenAL and rebooting --- nothing. Hate to do a refund, I really wanted to play this again :-(

Tried all your suggestions Julius - no luck. No nwn.ini file to delete it appears since I never have got it started - although I would have thought there would have been on either way. I'll delete and redownload.

If you've tried the posted workarounds and removed all mods are still having crashes, show the logs to Beamdog support: https://beamdog.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/1
