Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition

Helms Hold mummies are impossible for weapon master + bard
I've created the character I want to play, specializing in rapier crit hits. Which means I've got nothing to handle mummies. The Helms Hold level has terrible scaling: fake helmites that drop like flies, then mummy lords that are untouchable? And in the chapter finale, there's no way to switch henchmen apparently. Grrrr.

If anyone has a recommendation, I'd love to hear. I don't really want to mess around with the game editor anymore.

Take Linu with you and she will clean up. :lunar2019grinningpig:
If your character is a Dex-based WM, I would suggest you restart. You probably can get through the OC, but you aren't that far into the game and you're going to have a hard time with that character. Dex based characters have a tough time with the OC and Dex based WMs don't multiply a lot of damage on a critical hit. The difficulty in this game is really build based as opposed to how the difficulty slider is set.

If you're playing a strength based WM, then you should be able to manage. Mummies have 50% damage immunity to all physical attacks and 10/+2 DR. Meaning that if you're using a weapon will less than a +2 enhancement bonus you have to deal 20 points of damage to do any damage to them. Assuming you have a +2 or better weapon, a strength based character should be able to beat them down. They are weak against fire, so you can use any fire based attacks you might have (alchemist's fire, traps, scrolls, arrows, etc.) against them.

DR 10/+2 means that without a +2 AB or better on a weapon, the target will resist 10 damage, not 20. I assume it's a typo, but felt I should clear it up.

As wendigo211 said, fire is your real friend vs mummies. If you are a bard you should have access to UMD so there's a host of spells to help you there, chief among which would be flame weapon.

With any bard or rogue melee type character I'd be carrying lots of flame weapon scrolls. Just ensure the weapon you are using doesn't have its bonus damage as fire. Fire doesn't stack with fire but it will stack on every other kind of bonus damage.

Have fun :)

No, in this case I meant 20. DR is applied after damage immunity so, since the mummy is negating 50% of physical damage before the damage sees the 10/+2 DR, the DR is effectively doubled.

Or to put it another way, if you hit the mummy with a mundane great sword for 22 points of damage, you'll deal 1 point of damage to the mummy (22*0.5-10=1).

I am blind. For some reason I didn't see (or remember) the immunity. Thanks for the polite correction.

Have fun :)
