Blank Screens on Start up
I purchased this game last week and cannot get past the start screens, The music plays, the cursor changes to a guanlet hand and the initial sequence of screens progresses. But all of those screens are totally blank (white). I can click through about 3 or 4 of them. I then reach a screen, music still playing, where I can do nothing. The game obviously wants me to click on a start button, but none is visiiblle. I am stuck at this point and have to use my computer's program manager to shut it down (or reboot).

I have a Dell d630 laptop running Windows 7 service pack 1 with an Intel Core Duo T7250 processor and 3 GB of ram. I had no problem running the original NWN I bought on a CD years ago.

I have twice used the validate files function in Steam and both checks indiciated the files are valid.

Is there as easy fix for this?

Haven't heard about this problem before, sorry. I'd recommend contacting Beamdog support.

Try setting the compatibility mode to XP.

I have seen this on other older game engines caused by the overclock on your vid card.

Just for grins, drop the OC on your card by 100 and see what happens. These older engines can get glitched by a freq they dont play well together. If that doesnt do it, set the OC back to original value. (Set it in the vid card panel just for this game, not universal).

how?

Open your vid card control panel. Either find NWN in its game list or create the profile in it. Then open up the profile of the game and select the vid options you can configure, usually the OC is listed as well. It can be referred to as the core clock. Find that setting and write it down, then decrease it by 100. Test game. I would google your vid card model on how to OC it and reduce instead of increase.

PS cant help more without more details - always give details when asking for help - I am not pyschic.

You could also try deleting (after backing up) your nwn.ini and nwnplayer.ini. The game will automatically replace them when you start it up. It might clear up any configuration conflicts.
