What are the advantages of using Familiar and Animal Companion together
I noticed that you can summon Familiar and Animal Companion at the same time as a multiclassed Druid/Ranger and Wizard/Sorcerer. Though their level don't seem to stack. Are there advantages to this multi-summoning?

Disabling *two* traps?

(AKA, no. Animal companions are just weak per se and while caster summons have their uses, you would be better keeping levelling in the caster class to get a more powerful one than multiclassing for another. Ranger druid pets would be so ridiculously weak that they would have to be pets, by the fire, snuggling in your lap type pets ;)

Have fun :)

As Shia says, Summoned Familiars can be useful for skills such as disabling traps etc but Animal Companions are just so weak they are very rarely useful at all.

I think it would be good if the game gave special abilities to Animal Companions to actually make them viable. Unfortunately a lot of stuff to do with them is hard-coded and very difficult to change via scripting.

Add a henchman and you can get the four-person-in-the-party achievement.
