Best Campaign to play?
I'm thinking about buying this. I heard the main campaign doesn;t have a very good story. And I heard this product comes with a few different campaigns. WHich is the best one to play?

I would go with Shadows of the Undrentide, then Hordes of the Underdark. They are meant to be played back-to-back with a new character and the latter one is really good fun (well, so is the first when compared to the OC IMO).

Hordes Of The Underdark is generally regarded as the best of the lot. Having said that, the main campaign isn't as awful as everyone makes out. It's not great by any stretch, but it's not the worst thing in the world. It also helps you figure out how to play the game if you're unfamiliar with NWN mechanics.

I would actually recommend in this order: original campaign, sotu and then hotu. As they were sort of meant to be played.

Yeah OC gets boring in certain sections, but it also gives you a lot of room to learn. While I agree that hotu is the best expansioni, it is also the more difficult one.

start with shadows of undrentide then hordes of underdark then try custom modules like Aielund Saga or many others on the nwn 1 'vault'

Yes, I played OC then SOU then HOTU, and I think it's the best order of play. OC is quite easy and allows to lean, while HOTU, if I recall, had quite tough nasties ...

Just make sure you start a fresh character for SoTU - it's meant for level 1's.

One of my all time fave series is the Midwinter Series by Marc Price.

Hordes of the underdark is one of the best campaigns i ever played.

Although the other 2 aren't bad, either, IMO

That's true, but only if you start over for SoU. Otherwise, you get to HotU overleveled, and therefore close to immortality (lol)

Hordes of the Underdark is the best base campaign (by a mile, in my opinion). My absolute top fan-made series is The Prophet by Baldecaran. It consists of a prologue - here https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/prophet-prologue-it-cannot-be-denied - and three main chapters (under "Related Projects" on the prologue page). I can't recommend it enough.

I also heartily endorse this series of modules.

For those looking at custom campaigns/modules online. Tortured Hearts 2 is an excellent choice if you're looking for something to get deeply involved in and something of a non-linear, difficult story to play in. I probably spent 50-60 hours alone on my first playthrough of it.

For official campaigns, Shadows first if you're familiar with the systems, otherwise do them in the order they were released. The original campaign is a great learning tool for first-timers, though the writing is a little dry at points, as most confirm.
