How should I approach this game? (never played)
I have heard that the main game is a slog but I have plenty time in the old 2d games and play plenty of D&D 5e.

I'd like to try out some of the persistant worlds but I want to learn how to play first.

Should I skip the base single player campaign and jump to one of the other modules first?

Just play one of the persistant worlds in multiplayer and skip single player all together?

Get in with a decent group that can help you out. You are welcome to join this one: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NWN-Players

I have a post on our group forums, here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NWN-Players/discussions/0/1500126447382748871/

...that acts a a basic guide to new players.

As for what to do first, I would reccommend just trying out the main campaigns to get a feel for the game. Persistant worlds can be great fun, but might be a bit overwhelming for new players. Saying that - if you want to - go for it.

Another thing to expect to deal with repeatedly: Taking your time, and being more than a little patient with the combat, camera controls, etc. Also too, remember, NWN is 3rd edition rules, so anticipate that it'll be pretty different than 5e.

As for just starting out? As jimbobslimbob up top recommended, do the main campaign first. The prelude is a tutorial on how the game functions at it's basic levels, with some dips into some advanced stuff. A good game with a decent pace to it.

Id suggest playing the main campaign. Its pretty good, and will ease you into the game mechanics. Its Bioware D&D after all.
