Not really, no. Craft wand could useful at times, but ultimatey you don't really need to do much crafting in the vanilla modules. Now player-made modules might be another story, of course, but you'd have to discover that for yourself.

What frightened me is that i was required to pay experience for crafting! (together with gold AFAIR?) So i was really reluctant to use it. Why is it like that or do i remember it wrong?

It was used alot by PW and mods. There was a lycnthrope mod that used the craft armor skill as the shape change. I think it does cost XP in gold in the actual D&D rules because it was the same thing iwhen I played Troika's Temple of Elemental Evil and crafted wands and stuff.

Yeah, i know it's because of ruleset, but can't understand logic behind that, whyy? :) I don't wanna lose XP

Because if they didn't people would abuse it in multiplayer. You could make stuff and sell it and make millions of gold and make all kinds of wondrous items.

Well there is also that crafting costs XP in the ruleset the game is derived from.

I don't know their reasoning for XP but you could decide in your game you had to find rare ingredient instead. But this game uses official rules not house rules.

yeah, i hope there's a PW with house rules crafting mechanics that doesn't cost XP and gold, only ingredients, etc. Well, like in World of Warcraft for example.

There are modules that let you craft or have a crafter upgrade your items with enchanments it really depends on the mod. Inifnite Dungeons has gems and you need some material to enchant items with. I don't know if you can change craft wand or brew potion but maybe you can.

Yeah, it's just a don't like default crafting.

IIRC in classic campaign a blacksmith also can craft or upgrade weapons for you if you provide him ingredients?

Nope, I have never finished the campaign. My real interest in the game is the toolkit creating modules.

In the vanilla campaign no, but HoTu makes it a bit more useful. If memory serves me correctly you can craft non magical weapons from higher tier ores (like adamantine) which you can then enchant 3 times. It's been a while, so I might be wrong, but I kinda remember having a custom keen+7 scythe.

Still not sure if it's useful.
