Is this game good for single player?
I always wanted to try it, and was always confused because it had a good multiplayer in it.
Thanks.

You can play the original campaign, and two expansion packs solo or with 1-3 henchmen. You can also get a Merc/henchmench to help you out. Ie if you pick a spell casting class you can get a fighter to help you out and vice versa.

this basically baldur's gate for people who don't want to micromanage an entire party of 6 characters. You can have summons and an henchman, but you barely control what they do. And it's entirely possible to do the whole game on your own, although it would be a bit tough.

The original campaign is awful.

Shadows of Undrentide is mediocre.

Hordes of the Underdark is pretty good.

Modules created by the community are the meat of single player. There's a lot out there. From total conversions of Diablo 1 and Eye of the Beholder to D&D campaigns and things people just made up. That's the good stuff.

I hate multiplayer. I'm strictly a single-player guy, and yes, it's awesome as a single-player game. The sheer quantity of stuff you can find on Neverwinter Vault means you're never going to be stuck for something new and interesting to do.

Actually this game is not.. really a single player game focus. The single player was only meant to help people learn the scope of the game, with the editing and world creation, script set up and henchmen\game mechanics. And also to learn about the basics of the game. But Neverwinter Nights was created for the PERSISTANT WORLD. The bottom line is IF YOU NEVER PLAYED THE PERSISTANT WORLD ASPECT OF NEVERWINTER NIGHTS YOU NEVER ACTUALLY PLAYED THE REAL GAME. So please find a story type persistant world or role play server persistant world and play to experience why this game is still to this day, one of a kind and the only game of it's type. Hope that helps

Different strokes for different folks, mate. Ever since I was emotionally traumatized by Battlenet during the nineties, I've loathed multiplayer. I don't like sharing my toys. I'm reasonably sure that doesn't mean I've never actually played the real game. :steammocking:

That's just objectively wrong. The toolset is both good for PWs and for campaign/module creation.

There is no single way to play the "real game", NWN can be enjoyed in multiple ways. Three official campaigns, six premium modules, many fan-made modules, persistant worlds, building modules with the toolset... Just do what you like! And yes, it works great as a single player game.

I'm probably one of the biggest fanbois of this game ever to live. With that said, I've played the official campaign 42 times through with different characters to see how different they would be. There is plenty to keep play throughs fresh for a good handful of different characters.

Shadows of Undrentide was okay. I played it 11 times through. Best played with an elf paladin (which to an old school D&Der like me is blasphemy considering only humans can be plaldins).

Hordes of the Underdark is great. I played it through 26 times. My favorite part is a dialogue that takes place between two henchmen. I won't spoil it here, but take the kobold and the Drow.

My recommendation though would be to get the diamond edition on GOG if you are in a hurry to play it due to the insane number of game killing bugs being reported for this... revamp? Is that a good word for it? Or wait until the devs actually fixes this version up and stops trying to retire of soeone else's 17 year old expansions.

If you find yourself really, really, really bored of the OC campaign (which is likely), I've found the OHS Henchmen system managed to keep my interest right up to about halways through chapter 2.

You can play orignal and the DLC's by yourself - even without henchmen if you choose.

Multiplayer was never a must option for this game.

Yeah, single player is still pretty good. The original campaign is a bit lacking though, you'll probably enjoy the expansions or some of the better known player-made modules more.

Yup very soloable. The original campaign is not bad but its obvious it serves as a showcase for some of the things you can do with the toolset. Its supposed to inspire content-makers to do something even better.
WrathPhoenix Apr 1, 2018 @ 5:22am
The single player content of the game is only limited by the number of modules the community makes.
