1d5 means one dice with 5 sides, so it's just 1-5.
2d5 means two dices, so it's effectively 2-10, EXCEPT that it's distributed more closely to the center(5-6).
2d5+1 would mean 3-11, 2d5-1 means 1-9.

Sorry, i'm not English-native, though i'm a grammarnazi myself, thanks for correction :) I don't use that word often, forgot that it's an exception
Though i don't really like how "die" sounds as a noun.

I feel too :P In my opinion a person who's not able to write in his native language competently is not worthy to be heard Because often that means it's a stupid illiterate person. It's like how can you be a… damn, i can't think of a good analogy.

Well, i'm seriously grateful for correction, helps me to improve my English skills.
