Oh and since nwn1 doesnt have epic divine might, you either make a smiter or end with with poors man fighter.
I went with human and started off with 17 Str, 15 Dex, 14 Con, 9 Int, 8 Wis, 8 Cha.
I took Ambidexterity, Two-weapon fighting and Exotic weapons (I like bast-rd swords and katanas, so this feat was free with the human perk).
Grab yourself a Bast-rd sword at the start for ~78gp (1d10 one-hander) and a shortsword (1d6) or dagger (1d4) in your offhand and have at it.
All races and classes are good in their own way .
What matters here is this :
What class do you feel like in the moment of creation ?
What race do you feel like in the moment of creation ?
When those 2 are in order , play . Learn . And when you die , start up again , do the same thing in a different approach , and Learn .
That goes for all characters .
All in all , who do you feel like . Do you feel like a human , elf , a drow perhaps (sub race) , half-orc ???
Do you feel like a warrior , wizard , bard , druid , cleric ?????
What do YOU feel like ?
If you don´t like what you have created , create something else .
Until you have created something that feels YOU .
That is the best choice in this kind of world .
Now it depends how much you want to min-max and abuse the scrivener/alignment. I would suggest going the paladin route as it frees up a level, two feats (and enables one bonus feat) and 6 stat points. Anyway, I would go for:
paladin 1/sorc 29/pale master 10 (or take 2 blackguard instead of paladin)
Get auto still spell, heavy armor and some shield - with very high AC, defensive arcane spells, immune to SA/Crits you can't really be damaged and you can nuke freely. You will also have time to laugh at all the dumb melee that kill enemies one by one like some peasant.
Do not play wizard or rogue classes because of their low HP and weaknesses at close combat in a low levels. It will be a lot easier with druid which can cast a powerful spells, do a lot of damage and heal everyone. Personally I prefer a 8 druid 4 monk and XX shifter build.
You can pick any class other than blackGuard actually. If u plan to take weaponmaster. then fighter is better since you can access weapon specilization. I picked Dark Paladin is to openup to Divine might from BG lvl3 onwards and also want to pick something fitting to the storyline later in the game.
I put a lot of points into INT and DEX.
Once i reach the wizard's 4th lvl, i switch back to the Thief class and stick with it until i reach lvl 8.
Then i switch back to Illusionist, Etc...
