What exactly about this is remastered?
I guess Beamdog got away without redoing the graphics for the Infinite Engine games because they already looked beautiful but what the hell is this ♥♥♥♥? Pretty sure if you are going to remaster a game like Neverwinter Nights to bring it closer to modern standards you are going to have to do a graphical overhaul as these low poly sprites just aren't going to cut it, seriously why should anyone give these charlitans money if all they are going to do is up the resolution of a game that is not their own creation which is easy to do in the older versions of the game through mods?

Is there an active multiplayer community for this game at least running some interesting modules?

Modern day, lots of dam nice looking games, with not much going on gameplay wise.

Yeah I get ya, I still play al lot of old games despite what they look like. Perhaps I just expected more from a enhancement of NWN as at the time, the original looked great to me. Really want to pick this up tbh.

Oh, I have the gog original, not enough here to justify re-buying it.

Segmented content on launch was annoying as well, addtional content would be a valid reason to repurchase (as I did with Duke3d world tours new maps). But not paying extra on the side, no way.

I have been watching the videos of Beamdog. They specifically said that they do not want to change the main graphics, because many people want the original experience. They will add the modifications into the Steam Workshop. The newer graphics will be optional. These guys are great! I have been watching their videos every Friday. They explain what they are doing and they have a great sense of humour!

So in other words:
- scaling UI
- some extra graphics options, but nothing about better models or textures
- arbitrary information that some old developers have been working with this game
- backwards compatibility is maintained, possibly because there isn't that much under-the-hood changes...

There. I did my own research. It is not my fault if the developers are incapable or unwilling to add more info there. Having to read several stickied threads and going through myriads of links is not very consumer-friendly way of doing sales-pitches.
Brief Summary of some of the changes in-game right now
  • UI Scaling. Increases the size of the UI to make it easily viewable at higher resolutions.
  • Master Server resurrection. Multiplayer works out of the box again without 3rd party tools.
  • Steam friend list integration. Join a friend's game easily.
  • NAT punch-through. Allows players to connect to games without forwarding ports.
  • Steam Workshop. Install mods at the click of a button via the workshop.
  • New post-processing graphical options. Depth of Field, Vibrance, Contrast Enhancement.
  • Pixel Shaders. Allows for some really high quality texture effects.
  • New sound system - OpenAL.
  • Bug fixes.
Great, so why not list all of those (and more, because these are only "some of the changes"...) on the store page?

I'd imagine Dungeons & Dragons still hold all the rights to this game. Trying to make changes to something they own is like trying to steal gold from the claws of a dragon... :)

How about renewed life into NWN which was dying a slow death mostly in part due to having to use 3rd party programs or websites to even find a server list?

This alone is worth it to me - i want more blood into PW's, it's what keeps NWN going. Steam told me 1.5k players on NWN:EE earlier, sure a great deal are probably playing through the campaign but if even a fraction hang around to explore the content that will be added onto workshop etc, it'll be worth it.

Of course you don't know this because you don't know ♥♥♥♥ :>

I paid $20 to play a game I had a long time ago and also the fact that I can play multiplayer with my family members in different countries without having to use 3rd party software.

Is there an ETA on the graphics overhaul?

I really, really want to purchase this (I have the previous Beamdog/Bioware/Black Isle remasters), and would love NWN, but even though they said they changed stuff, I just don't see it.

I can't justify it compared to the Diamond Edition that works fine on my Windows 10 system (and has community bugfixes!!).

I'll probably pick it up down the line, but was just wanting to know:

- is the graphics overhaul a "complete" graphics overhaul? (all OC tilesets, character models, spell effects etc)
- Is there a timeframe for this?

The Trello thing is kinda confusing and not specific enough in terms of what they are going to implement (not a fan of voting features stuff, just say what you are going to fix and do it).

To answer the prior question, yes, you could install the games via CD or GOG and play them that way... except, chances are, unless you're hosting a local/LAN game, you're going to be playing alone, as Gamespy is still dead for them. The real meat of NWN was its online PWs and user-made content, and Beamdog revived the online with their own network.
