Can you make the combat like Diablo?
I think it would be better, if it were faster. It takes so long to fight battles, and why do you miss when you shoot a zombie with a bow at point blank.

not sure the engine works that way. Dragonage origins is probally the cloest you'll get.

I like that in Diablo 3 you can go into rift and fight monsters to get powerful treasure. I didn't like the Dragon Age Origins at all, because it terrible and have no dungeons just terrible terrain engine that is awful and the quests were stupid.

NWN 2 and Dragon age are basically the same game engine. Your question was related directly to combat. there is no reason you can't have dungeons etc in Dragon age. There are mods that add that type of stuff I think.

Back to combat though. The reason the “misses” happen it because it is built on the DnD system. Every action it based on dice. Your shot has to defeat his AC (Armor Class). Most games now don’t use this system. In DnD land you actually shoot worse at close range (I think it was like -5?) unless you have the point blank feat.

Please tell me this is a joke. It's only "slow" to begin with, when characters only have 1 attack per round. As your character levels they get additional attacks per round, not to mention Rapid Shot, Improved Two Weapon Fighting and Flurry of Blows. There get to be so many that the game starts grouping them up for animations. I don't see how making it "more like Diablo" would help at all. This isn't a Diablo game, it's a D&D game - the mechanics are completely different.

I had fought epic battles in NWN because the game spawned ghoul lords and zombie warriors, and so many of them. My henchmen died so many times trying to kill the Yanti sorceress. But sometimes I wish combat was faster.

You mean Chapter 1 of the OC? That's not "epic" in any sense of the word. Infact, you wouldn't be any more than about level 8 by that point. Assuming you are running a high-AB class and not using anything fancy, that would equate to just 2 attacks per round. Given you can get up to 10 maximum, you haven't really seen it at its most intense.

Why? Maybe contact mythbusters and ask them try it? But first have you ever used yourself a real powerful hunting bow for example? Or whatever crossbow? Now imagine you are in a melee with some angry mob, and think would you be even able to reload your crossbow. I can assure you that if some monster is trying to brutally slash you dead with orcish Scimitar you wont hit him as easily as you hit the door of a barn. You can simply miss or the arrow can deflect from armour, even if you manage to get your point blank shot before your skull is split by a heavy axe.

I had a little crossbow once like Dark elfs have but you have to put it on the ground to reload it. It wasn't very powerful and the string broke after one day.

Also, anyone puzzled why they can't hit always when they want, go to some martial arts training center and ask for a chance to do some hand-to-hand combat even with novices there :) The answer will become very obvious very quickly, I can assure that :)

Fail - This is not diablo. This game was never a diablo clone. It is a full fledged Dungeon and Dragon's RPG. Not a Hack n Slash like diablo - you have mounts of diablo clones you can play.

If you have never played a full RPG then you need to learn how and start understanding. Read every page of the manuals for starters. Understand what you are getting into before making a blind dive.

Have you tried playing Grim Dawn for your Diablo itch?

Grim Dawn is very cool, but I don't know how to make modules for it.
